SV Bimi, a Seattle landmark

Bimi is a unique, colorful 45-foot wooden Gaff-Rigged ketch (45′ overall with bow sprit and boomkin), built in the style of the early East Coast catboats in 1955. Bimi sports an enormous cockpit and lots of colors which help provide a sailing celebration to remember! Her wide cockpit and “beamy” design provide a stable platform for sailing, and her blue hull with red and yellow gaff-rigged sails invite attention wherever she sails. Based in the warmer fresh waters of Lake Washington, we often tailor sails aboard Bimi on the other side of the city, in Lake Union, and through the ship canal past UW Husky stadium towards Kirkland. Swimming is optional but encouraged!

Bimi has been plying the Seattle waters since 1982 since she left her native San Francisco and has been featured in many news stories and artist renditions of Seattle. Come aboard a little piece of Seattle history!
